Video: Zoo Turns Elephant Poop Into Art!

10 Nov

Staff and volunteers at the Topeka Zoo in Kansas have become “manurologists,” creating dolls and gifts made out of Elephant feces for a fundraising project called My Pet Poo. Each piece of art made from elephant dung is priced between $10 and $25 and comes with a certificate proving the authenticity of the poop. Kate Larison, executive director of the Friends of the Topeka Zoo, says, “We’ve had requests to paint the poop to look like a Kansas City Chief or a Jayhawk from the University of Kansas.” Fortunately, the art is odorless, she explains, “After the zookeepers collect it, it dries for 10 days or so and then it doesn’t smell it at all.” (AOL)
