There are engagement rings, wedding rings, eternity rings, promise rings, even commitment rings, and now there are divorce rings!

A trendy British jewelry designer, Gisele Ganne, has created some interesting rings she calls “divorce rings.” Sold on bottica.com – these things don’t come cheap! Each ring will set you back $1,348.

According to the website,

“Mourning is not just about dead people, it is also about dead relationships and decaying marriages…My divorce jewelry refers to old and contemporary wedding customs to illustrate this sort of mourning…All the decoration inside symbolize the union and give luck to the marriage. I use union and marriage symbols and subvert them to show the inevitability of the breakup, but also show that from these ashes may raise a new life.”

 

Wedding Dresses at Costco!?

When I first heard that Costco was going to sell wedding dresses, I’ll admit that I was a little skeptical. I mean who wants to purchase the most important dress they’ll ever wear at the same place you buy frozen eggrolls and feminine products in bulk? Well, I will be the first to admit I was wrong. Check out this ad:

I think that’s a pretty dress! That might be the only good-looking one they’re selling but if it’s a good deal, buy it! The rumor is that Kirstie Kelly’s designs normally run up to $4,000, but at Costco the six different styles will range in price from $600 to $1,399. Wanna grab one? So far you can only try them on by appointment only at select stores.

Birth-Order and Relationships

Thought this was interesting since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. A new book from psychologist Linda Blair, “Birth Order: What Your Position In The Family Really Tells You About Your Character,” says that many relationships fail or succeed based on what order both mates were born. And, some birth orders are more compatible than others. Check out some of the findings:

What Works

First-born with last-born: Opposites really do attract! First-borns are nurturers and caretakers, and last-borns often need to be cared for, so this match finds its perfect opposite.

Only child with last-born: This is a good match because last-borns tend to inspire creativity and freedom in only children.

Middle child and first-born: If you’re with a middle child, you’ve hit the jackpot. Middle children tend to be able to get along with both first-borns and last-borns. But any pairing does still require that both partners respect who the other is. An overbearing first-born should be on her best behavior around a more docile and malleable middle child.

Two last-borns: A couple comprised of two last-borns can be a great creative match. But they should be careful of being too impulsive of immature with one another.

Two middle children: Middle children are a good match because of their combined diplomacy and desire to please, but they should be careful of being too deferential to each other.

Middle child and last-born: A great match because middle children aim to please and will support a last-born’s desires to pursue their dreams.

Middle child with only child: Only children like to take charge and middle children are only too happy to have someone else take the reigns.

What Doesn’t Work

Two first-borns: Conflict is likely if you’re highly competitive and both want to be in charge. It can work if you can channel your competitive drives outside of the relationship.

First-born and only child: Ditto for this pairing, which may exhibit many of the negative characteristics of a first-born match.

Two only children: This may not be the best match, because you’re both used to getting what you want.
