Knocked Up Nail Polish

Apparently when you’re pregnant, you need to stay away from certain nail polishes because they contain harmful chemicals and choose products that are ‘three-free‘ – meaning it doesn’t contain formaldehyde, dibutyl phthlate (DBP), or toluene.  Lots of commercial brands are three-free now, but it’s not always obvious if a product is “safe” when you go to hunt for ingredient lists. SO, what is a pregnant fashionista to do? Get some Knockedup Nail Polish! According to their website:

Divorce Rings

There are engagement rings, wedding rings, eternity rings, promise rings, even commitment rings, and now there are divorce rings!

A trendy British jewelry designer, Gisele Ganne, has created some interesting rings she calls “divorce rings.” Sold on bottica.com – these things don’t come cheap! Each ring will set you back $1,348.

According to the website,

“Mourning is not just about dead people, it is also about dead relationships and decaying marriages…My divorce jewelry refers to old and contemporary wedding customs to illustrate this sort of mourning…All the decoration inside symbolize the union and give luck to the marriage. Diamonds and Dogs and More Diamonds, Oh My!

Think you love your dog? Well do you love your dog enough to drop $3.2 million on a diamond studded collar? Dubbed at the “Word’s Most Expensive Dog Collar,” I Love Dog Diamonds is selling a collar filled with 52-carats worth of diamonds called the Amour, Amour.

Hunger Games Cookbook!

If you’ve read the Hunger Games books, then you know a running theme throughout them is FOOD! And if you think the descriptions of the decadent lamb stew with dried plums from the Capitol sounds yummy OR your mouth waters for Peeta’s cinnamon bakery bread – then you need to pick up a copy of The Unofficial Hunger Games Cookbook!

Author and Chef, Emily Ansara Baines, has created a cookbook paying homage to foods mentioned in the wildly popular trilogy, consisting of 150 recipes. And don’t worry, her recipes aren’t perfectly accurate: she subs chicken for squirrel!

*I just ordered mine on Amazon, so I haven’t had a chance to test the recipes out!

Here is sample from the book: Lamb Stew with Dried Plums

Yield 8-10 servings

• 5 pounds lamb fillet, shoulder or leg, cut into 2-inch pieces
• 2 teaspoons salt
• ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
• ½ cup all-purpose flour
• 2 tablespoons olive oil
• 3 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 large onion, chopped
• ½ cup water
• 4 cups beef stock
• 2 teaspoons white sugar
• 3 teaspoons brown sugar
• 3 cups diced carrots
• 1 cup diced zucchini
• 1½ cups diced celery
• 2 large onions, diced
• 3 potatoes, cubed
• 5 cups dried plums
• 2 teaspoons dried thyme
• 3 teaspoons chopped fresh rosemary
• 2 teaspoons chopped fresh basil
• 1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley
• 2 bay leaves
• 1 cup ginger ale

1. Place lamb, salt, pepper, and flour in a large mixing bowl. Toss to coat meat evenly.
2. Heat olive oil in a large pan and brown the meat, working in batches if you have to.
3. Remove lamb to a side plate. Pour off fat, leaving ¼ cup in the pan. Add the garlic and onion and sauté until the onion becomes golden. Deglaze frying pan with the ½ cup water, taking care to scrape the bottom of the pan to stir up all of the tasty bits of meat and onion. Cook to reduce liquid slightly, then remove from heat.
4. Place the lamb and garlic-onion mixture in a large stockpot. Add beef stock and sugar, stirring until sugars are dissolved. Bring mixture to a boil, cover, and simmer for 1½ hours.
5. Add the vegetables, dried plums, herbs, and ginger ale to the pot. Simmer for 30-45 minutes, or until meat and vegetables pierce easily with a fork.

Why am I just now learning about clip on bangs!? Just days ago I saw a photo of Katie Holmes sporting some fierce fringe at Oscar parties, and today I see a new photo of her without them! How the heck does she do it? CLIP ON BANGS!

I’ve always been told red is a “sexy color” but research now proves men prefer women in red!

Scientists, from the University of Rochester in New York, found that men are actually more attracted to women who are wearing red, because they believe they’re less likely to reject them.  Research shows men feel a woman in red is sending signals about being “sexually available.”  Guys in the study even said they’d spend more money on a date with a woman who was wearing the fiery hue!

Oscar Fashion: White Hot with a Dash of Angelina!

Oscars 2012: The year of black and white! It appears white was the color of the red carpet last night – but leave it to Angelina to be stunningly different! Not only was black and white on the red carpet, but The Artist, took home best picture and best director.

She is just divine in Versace:

Gwyneth (in Tom Ford)  and Cam (in Gucci) both wore white, BUT I think Cam wore it better!
